From Sri Sarada Math RasikBhita, I (SwagataSen) and my friend (KankanaHambir) were selected for this trek to qualify for our gold medal as part of IAYP. We were really excited for this camp, mainly because of the venue. We also knew that it is going to be tough so we prepared for the hurdles we are going to face. So we started our journey with rest of the team including four instructors and eight girls of All Bengal Women’s Association. Our train (Darjeeling Mail) departed at 10.05 p.m from Sealdah Station.
Next day around 08.30 a.m we reached New Jalpaiguri Station. After reaching Manebhanjang by a car we had lunch and were told to take rest for acclimatizing the body with the high altitude. From the next day (24th of June) we started our trekking to Tumbling, about 11km from Manebhanjang. On the way we observed beautiful scenic beauty and were awestruck. The ecstatic beauty of nature mesmerised us and we almost forgot our tremendous physical hardships. At first when we saw the steep rode in front of us, we thought that we could not make it, but later we could make it. The steep road became our greatest challenge to overcome. It was exhausting but we made it very slowly.Mother Nature also made us happy with her bright skies, drizzling mists, green vegetation and vivid coloured flowers. We also met with some lovely people on the way to Tumbling and also observed their hard lifestyle and deep love for the nature. On the 26th of June we started to come down from Tumbling to Manebhanjang. The journey was very good as we learnt a lot of things, spent good time with friends, also made new friends and came to learn about their struggles in life. There we also observed our mother nature so closely and faced challenges that we had never imagined. I thinkit helped us a little more to become a complete human. On 27th of June we reached our home safely. The Journey was truly one that we will cherish in our mind forever.
