Prof. Siddartha Sen, of the Trinity College, Dublin visited SriSarada Math-Rasik Bhita to talk to the students and increase their interest in mathematics. He is a theoretical physicist who has authored a book on mathematics education and learning named “The joy of understanding and solving problems: A guide to school mathematics”.

On 22nd December 2013, the first floor of RasikBhita was packed to the maximum capacity as students of RasikBhita and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Sister NiveditaGirl’s School waited eagerly to listen to this genius of academic world. Prof.Sen charmed everyone by revealing the beauties of the amazing world of mathematics using stories and real-life incidents of great mathematicians like Pythagoras, Ramanujan, Archimedes etc. and telling them about the harmony and rhythm underlying different kinds of numbers. Everyone alike started to understand how mathematics could be interesting.

Prof. Sen again met a select group of students pursuing Physics and Mathematics as their subject of higher studies and some students of Sister Niveditaschoolon 20th Jan 2014 in the new video conferencing room. PravrajikaDivyanandaprana introduced him to a audience who were present to listen to his talk on “Black holes in simple layman’s language”. All were enlightened by this talk. At the end of his talk PravrajikaVivekaprana reminded the audience that if they just pondered on the fact “who am I” thenlike mathematics and numbers we will also end up in infinity.
