The ground floor and first floor of Vivekananda SardhaShatabarsha Smarak Bhavan at 490, Dumdum Park were filled with sanyasinis, guests and students on 10th April, 2014 as all were eagerly waiting for the inauguration of Vivek Library and computer lab at this new branch of Sri Sarada Math-Rasik Bhita.
At 3 p.m., the program started as the Chairman and Managing Director of Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited, Rear Admiral AK Verma, formally inaugurated the computer lab and theory room at the first floor of this bhavan amidst Vedic chanting by sanyasinis and brahmacharinis. Here courses will be offered in computer and Spoken English mainly for girl students from low income families in and around Dumdum area.
Most Revered Pravrajika Amalaprana Mataji, General Secretary, Sri Sarada Math and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission kindly graced the occasion where Mr.J K Seal, representative of Sheela Kanoria Foundation and Rear Admiral A K Verma, Chairman and Managing Director, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited were present. Sheela Kanoria Foundation has helped to set up the Vivek Library and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited has sponsored the computer lab and theory room as part of their CSR initiative.
Many other dignitaries like Mr. K P Chattoraj, General Manager (HR) , Mrs.Lipi Das, Deputy General Manager (HR), ER and CSR ,both from Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited, Mr. Monimoy Dasgupta, Vice President, TCS special initiative, Ms. Piya Nandi, CSR, e-junction, Dr. Nivedita Ganguly of ISI and Dr. Smita Sengupta participated and witnessed this crucial juncture in the journey of Sri Sarada Math-Rasik Bhita. It is mention worthy that Rasik Bhita is the CSR partner of both TCS and e-junction as these companies provide special employability training at Rasik Bhita as part of their CSR and affirmative action.
Revered Atandraprana Mataji, Assistant Secretary, Sri Sarada Math and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission delivered the welcome address. Rear admiral AK Verma assured to maintain support to this endeavour in future also. Mr.J.K.Seal, Mr.Monimoy Dasgupta and Ms.Piya Nandi in their respective speeches emphasized the need of such bonding between corporate and philanthropic institutions as ultimately the society benefits from it.
Smt. Krishna Kayal, senior language trainer , Dr. Nivedita Ganguly of ISI and Dr. Smita Sengupta, GIS trainer in their brief talks promised to continue their support. Revered Amalaprana Mataji delivered the vote of thanks.
Nearly 60 students and 60 guests attended the function and made it a grand success.
