On 23 August 2026, Sri Sarada Math – Rasik Bhita conducted an awareness programme at Lighthouse for the Blind, Kolkata, for around 60 students from Classes IX to XII.
The programme introduced students to assistive technology and its role in making education and everyday activities more accessible. A variety of devices—including a TV magnifier, talking calculator, smart glasses, talking wallet, liquid level indicator and pen labeler—were demonstrated through practical interactions.
The students showed great curiosity and enthusiasm as they explored the devices, asked questions and discussed how such technologies could be useful in their daily lives. The session also touched upon mobility, independent living and opportunities for future education and employment.
The programme was an encouraging exchange of ideas and experiences. Through initiatives such as these, Sri Sarada Math – Rasik Bhita aims to create awareness, build confidence and inspire visually impaired students to explore new possibilities and lead increasingly independent lives.
